Space Sensor Fault

Description of Fault

A CATALYST Space Sensor Fault is issued when space temperature readings within the CATALYST system have abnormal readings either high (248° F) or low (–40° F). A reading of –40° F or 248° F indicates a wiring problem between the space sensor and the CATALYST controller.

A CATALYST Space Sensor Fault will automatically reset when the sensor reads an appropriate temperature.

The space temperature sensor is installed on the wall of the space served by the unit.

Possible Causes

A CATALYST Space Sensor Fault is typically caused by:

  • An open wire (–40° F).

  • A shorted wire (248° F).

 

Troubleshooting

eIQ Platform

  1. If the eIQ shows a space temperature of –40° F, this indicates an open wire between the space sensor and the CATALYST controller.

  2. If the eIQ shows a space temperature of 248° F, this indicates a shorted wire between the space sensor and the CATALYST controller.

  3. A technician will need to investigate in either scenario.

 

Site

  1. Investigate the wiring at the sensor.

  2. Investigate the connection between the white 3C wire and the thermostat wire going to the space.
